Oman Airports recently announced the comprehensive deployment of Wi-Fi 7 networks across all its national airports, becoming the world's first airport operator to implement this technology. This deployment, jointly advanced by Oman Airports and Huawei, aims to provide passengers with a more efficient, secure, and stable wireless network experience, while accelerating the digital transformation of the airports.

Wi-Fi 7 Brings a New Experience for Passengers and Operations

As the latest generation wireless connection standard, Wi-Fi 7 supports high-speed transmission, high bandwidth, and low latency, significantly improving network quality in high-density passenger environments. The deployment at Oman Airports covers all national airports and can provide passengers with:

  • High-speed network services capable of meeting demands for streaming media, cloud applications, and more.
  • Enhanced data encryption and security protection.
  • A stable connection experience, maintaining service quality even during peak hours.

Oman Airports stated that this upgrade represents a significant leap in its service innovation and technical operations.

Promoting the Construction of a Smart Airport Ecosystem

This Wi-Fi 7 project not only improves the internet experience for passengers but is also an important part of the airport's strategy to advance its smart transformation. By introducing the new generation wireless technology, Oman Airports aims to:

  • Enhance operational efficiency and response speed.
  • Support digital services such as self-service check-in, automated boarding, and smart security checks.
  • Reserve technical space for future passenger growth and service innovation.

This project signals the further maturation of intelligent aviation infrastructure.

Aligning with the "Oman 2040 Vision," Creating a Regional Technology Benchmark

The deployment of Wi-Fi 7 also supports the digitalization and smart transformation goals within the Omani government's "2040 Vision" strategy, which emphasizes:

  • Improving public service efficiency through technological innovation.
  • Building  tourism, transportation and urban infrastructure in line with global benchmarks.
  • Promoting the synergistic development of the tourism, transportation, and technology industries.

This innovative move by Oman Airports also showcases its leading position as a regional aviation hub.

Collaboration with Huawei Achieves an Industry First

Leveraging Huawei's technological advantages in the field of wireless communications, Oman Airports was able to rapidly deploy the Wi-Fi 7 system across multiple terminals. The project achieved seamless roaming, dense connection assurance, and high-performance network operation, becoming a global industry reference case.

In the device field, the application of Wi-Fi 7 is gradually expanding to smart terminals, industrial equipment, and IoT scenarios. Some upstream module manufacturers have begun launching new generation products adopting combined Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 solutions. Taking the QOGRISYS O2072PM module as an example, this product adopts a tri-band architecture, supports 320MHz bandwidth and eMLSR multi-link operation, and integrates technologies like CSI sensing to enhance link performance in high-density environments. Simultaneously, the inclusion of designs such as Aux Radio and BLE Long Range also creates conditions for its application in complex scenarios like smart devices, industrial control, and spatial awareness.
